چکیده

acetol was an intermediate in the metabolism of acetone by an unidentified soil diphtheroid. Because of the divergence of these results from those previously reported for R. gelatinosa, the photosynthetic metaboljsm of acetone was reinvestigated by means of a more direct approach. In addition to the two pathways indicated above, a third variation is postulated in which cleavage of acetone to CZ plus Cl fragments is followed by condensation of the Cl fragment with COZ to form another CZ compound (Equation 3). Of the three pathways under consideration only the first

The dark anaerobic metabolism of acetone and acetate by the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa.

Previous studies have shown that the metabolism of acetone and acetate by the photosynthetic bacterium, Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa, requires either light or oxygen as a source of energy (1, 2). The studies also showed that the cleavage of acetoacetate to acetat.e did not require an external source of energy. These observations are consistent with the known thermodynamic properties of the react...

Primary structure of a high potential iron-sulfur protein from the purple non-sulfur photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa.

The third amino acid sequence of a high potential iron-sulfur protein, that of the non-sulfur purple photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa, has been determined. It consists of a single polypeptide chain of 74 amino acid residues, which is slightly smaller than the high potential iron-sulfur proteins from the sulfur purple bacteria Chromatium vinosum (85 residues) and Thiocapsa pf...

Lipophilic O-antigens containing D-glycero-D-mannoheptose as the sole neutral sugar in Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa.

Lipopolysaccharides (LPS, O-antigens) of 12 strains of the photosynthetic bacterium Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa were obtained by the phenol/chloroform/petroleum ether method, recommended for extracting lipophilic glycolipids of enterobacterial R-mutants. All R. gelatinosa LPS have essentially the same chemical composition. Similar to LPS of Salmonella R-mutants of chemotypes Rd1 and Rd2, the so...

Substrate specificity of citrate lyase deacetylase of Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa and Rhodopseudomonas palustris.

Citrate lyase (EC 4.1.3.6) isolated from Rhodopseudomonas palustris was investigated with regard to its kinetic properties and its subunit composition. This enzyme was inactivated by citrate lyase deacetylase (EC 3.1.2.-) of Rhodopseudomonas gelatinosa. A corresponding cross-reaction was measured with partially purified deacetylase of R. palustris and citrate lyase of R. gelatinosa. The three d...
